Job Summary:
In this role, you will report to the Senior Project Engineer for the Terminal Delivery Team and provide support to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the multi-disciplinary engineering technical aspects for a complex airport terminal building. You will provide technical support and leadership in supervising the customer’s appointed Design Consultants for the delivery of the terminal design in accordance with budgetary, schedule and quality requirements. You will coordinate and collaborate with discipline specialists within the core engineering team and Technical Director.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervise the engineering activity (all disciplines)
- Plan and direct engineering assignments on the project
- Possess technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating these assignments
- Review of design deliverables, including constructability, value engineering and safety in design considerations.
- Ensure the facilities are designed in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner in accordance with policies and all applicable laws, regulations, authorization basis, codes, standards and technical requirements
- Represent Engineering on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions, expedite procurement, coordinate construction interfaces and as required to coordinate work
- Ensure work process execution and technical adequacy are in accordance with contract and industry standards.
- Coordinate with Project Stakeholders and undertake presentations as required, including Stage Gate Reviews.
- Coordinate engineering effort with Project Manager, Procurement/Contracts, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls
- Prepare or directs the preparation of project studies, reports, forecasts, special engineering reports as required.
- Review major changes or deviations in project scope, project material quantities, budget or schedule, and assists particularly with defining the change, obtaining accurate estimates of the hours involved, and notifying trends in accordance with Project Change Control procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in customer-facing roles, presenting to customers, and working with authorities having jurisdiction
- Knowledge of current industry and regulatory standards and general design criteria
- Skill in assessing the scope of problems and developing practical solutions.
- Experience in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, value engineering studies, or alternate technical concepts
- Experience with managing the coordination of design development with other functions which will include construction, estimating, project controls, procurement, and contracts management
- Strong background in effectively managing interdisciplinary coordination.
- Ability to research, analyze, and report on new design and construction technologies for buildings.
- Ability to coordinate and work with the other engineering disciplines, the client, designers, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate flexibility in balancing competing deadlines, priorities, and resource availability
- Able to identify and articulate opportunities for procedural improvement, provide solutions and carry out implementation.
- Must have strong organizational, leadership and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and the desire to innovate designs as well as architecture/ engineering work processes.
- Proven ability to lead and work within a diverse multicultural environment.
- Possesses working knowledge and production ability with computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Possesses a working knowledge of BIM processes, including experience designing projects in BIM platforms, particularly Revit and Navisworks.
